Each year, fewer alumni donate to SSE Riga – the most prestigious Latvian university, with a strong focus on economics. To raise money for scholarships, we needed to get the attention of successful alumni. Instead of asking for donations, we asked for investments into the first-ever charity stock. Inspired by Wall Street, we launched the SSE 500 – a charity index fund that turns each student into an asset.
We created a special website, modeled on the stock exchange. Each
student became an actual asset you could invest in. With the help of a sophisticated algorithm, a graph showed demand in real time, along with a rising or falling price.
